Over 229,000 passengers expected to travel through Malta International Airport this festive season

With the holiday season in full swing, the team at Malta International Airport is ready to welcome thousands of travellers heading home to reunite with loved ones or embarking on Christmas getaways abroad over the coming days.

Between Saturday 21st December and Tuesday 31st December, approximately 229,000 passengers are expected to pass through the terminal, with the busiest days during this festive period anticipated to be the 27th (c. 24,500 passenger movements), 28th (c. 27,800 passenger movements) and 29th (c. 24,300 passenger movements) days of the month.

To enhance the holiday experience, the airport team has planned a host of holiday-themed activities for the whole family to enjoy, kicking off from today at the Airport Food Court on level -1. Santa Claus will also be making a special stop here on Monday 23rd December between 5pm and 8pm, offering little elves the opportunity to snap their own photo with Santa on his sleigh.

Travelling guests can also treat themselves to a warm cup of complimentary mulled wine from a stall set up just beside Gate 1 inside the Departures Hall. Those seeking a little more indulgence before boarding can also benefit from a free gift-wrapping service, which is conveniently available just outside the airport’s Dufry outlet at Schengen Departures.

Malta International Airport would like to take this opportunity to wish all passengers safe onward journeys, and a joyous Christmas season.
