New Security Procedures at MIA as of 1st September

Malta International Airport has invested in state-of-the-art technology to improve the security screening procedure in compliance with fresh EU regulations.

As from 1st September, passengers could have their hand luggage and electronic devices (laptops, tablets and mobile phones) checked for traces of explosive material using specialized detection technology.

Ongoing structural works at the central security screening area as well as the new equipment installed, are intended to make sure this procedure meets the new regulatory demands set out by the EU.

Our security team is committed to providing an efficient service and a safe environment for all our passengers.
