Journey Facilitation Service – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) govern your participation in the Journey Facilitation Service (“Service”) operated by Malta International Airport p.l.c., a company registered under the laws of Malta with registration number C12663 and having its registered address at Malta International Airport, Luqa, LQA 4000, Malta, (“We, “Us”, “Our”).

  1. The Service enables eligible participants to benefit from assistance when travelling through the Malta International Airport located at Luqa, LQA 4000, Malta, including access to specially designated quiet areas.
  2. This Service is provided free of charge and upon your prior voluntary and explicit request.
  3. The Service is available exclusively to autistic guests. Misuse of the Service may result in legal action being taken against you as may be deemed appropriate.
  4. Eligibility for receipt of the Service will be decided on a case-by-case basis by Us, in Our sole discretion.
  5. You are required to notify Us of your intention to utilise Our Service by no later than four (4) days in advance of your intended travel date.
  6. Evidence of eligibility to this Service is to be provided by submitting to Us a copy of a medical certificate (or any other official document).
  7. Confirmation that you explicitly consent to Our processing of your medical certificate (or any other official document) will be requested when you submit to Us your medical certificate. You are to confirm that you consent to Our processing of your medical certificate by clicking the checkbox “I consent to the processing of my medical certificate (or any other official document) for the purposes of the Journey Facilitation Service”.
  8. To participate in the Service, you must then accept these T&Cs by clicking “I accept the T&Cs”. You must also confirm to have read and understood Our Privacy Policy by clicking “I confirm to have read and understood the Privacy Policy”. Our Privacy Policy may be accessed here.
  9. The medical certificate (or any other official document) will be processed exclusively by a limited number of Our personnel on a need to know basis. Processing of your personal data, including your medical certificate, will be undertaken in line with Our Privacy Policy which is accessible here.
  10. Provision of your medical certificate (or any other official document) to Us is not a statutory requirement. It is a requirement to enable Us to verify that you are eligible for participation in this Service. You may at any time withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data for the purposes of the Service by contacting us at assist@maltairport.com, however, if you do so, We will be unable to verify that you are eligible for participation in this Service and in turn, will not be able to permit you to participate in this Service. Withdrawal of your consent will not affect the lawfulness of Our processing prior to your withdrawal.
  11. You can also withdraw your participation in the Service at any time by contacting Us at assist@maltairport.com.
  12. Individuals who do not provide evidence will not be accepted as eligible to receive Service.
  13. Successful acceptance for receipt of Service will permit the autistic individual to be accompanied by a maximum of two (2) adults (over the age of 18) and one (1) child (under the age of 18), unless otherwise accepted at Our sole discretion. We reserve the right to alter the number of accompanying persons at any time and in Our sole discretion.
  14. To confirm that you are the individual who has been accepted as eligible for receipt of the Service, you will be required to present your Identity Card or Passport to one of Our personnel at the following locations, as applicable:
    1. Departures Terminal: Customer Services Information Centre at the Check-in Area; or
    2. Arrivals Terminal: Service Call Point upon entering the Air Terminal from aircraft (both Schengen and Non-Schengen Areas).
  15. The Service is being provided, without any warranties or guarantees of any kind, whether express or implied, and in particular, We cannot guarantee that:
    1. the Service will be available, uninterrupted or free from faults;
    2. the Service is safe or fit for its intended purpose; and
    3. Our staff are qualified and/or conversant in the assistance that may be provided throughout the Service.
  16. You hereby agree that you shall not hold Us liable in any form whatsoever for any service, assistance or matter which is directly or indirectly related to the Service.
  17. You hereby agree that your use of the Service is exclusively at your own sole risk.
  18. We reserve the right to terminate the Service at any time without incurring any liability towards you. We also reserve the right to refuse or retract your participation in the Service at any point in time and in Our sole discretion, without assuming any liability towards you.
  19. These T&Cs may be amended or updated by Us at any time and without any cause. If We make any such changes, the updated version of these T&Cs will be posted on Our website and an updated version of these T&Cs will be provided to you at the you have email supplied to Us.
  20. If any of the provisions of these T&Cs becomes illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any respect, the legality, validity and enforceability of the remainder of these T&Cs shall not be affected.
  21. These T&Cs are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malta. Any dispute in connection with these T&Cs shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malta.
