Żiblu
In 2022, the Malta Airport Foundation also helped Żibel procure a RHIB, which has increased the efficiency of the organisation in collecting marine debris and pulling ghost nets out of our waters.
Ghost net missions typically require two boats, one for a crew of four people together with four to six divers, and another for the debris collected. For this reason, Żibel rolled out a crowd-funding campaign to procure an additional rib.
Given that Żiblu was formerly a rescue and diving rib, it is also equipped with a deep hull and tubes, which allow the crew to tackle rough weather conditions easily.
The funds have enabled Żibel to purchase and customise the rib, supplying the vessel with the equipment that the organisation would need while out at sea diving for nets, carrying out research on microplastics or cleaning up the seabed.
