Around 84,000 arriving and departing passengers passed through Malta Airport in the first three weeks of July; some seeking a change of scenery after having spent too much time at home and others heading back home after having been away from their family for too long.

Every precautionary measure has been taken to ensure that, whatever the reason for their trip, travelling guests can start it or end it with the safest and most seamless airport experience. With everyone’s cooperation remaining crucial to maintaining a safe environment that allows travellers to feel at ease, a couple of important things should be kept in mind by those who will be flying soon.

FILL IN THE REQUIRED FORMS

Passengers departing from Malta are reminded to check with their airline whether any forms need to be filled in and submitted ahead of or immediately upon arrival at their destination.

Passengers arriving in Malta, on the other hand, will need to complete two forms – which can be downloaded here – prior to landing. Arriving passengers are reminded to hand the filled-in forms to the crew on board the aircraft or follow the crew’s instructions on where to deposit them.

PLAN AHEAD

If you feel unwell on the day of your travels, act responsibly and postpone your trip to a later date. If you are in good health, be at the airport 2.5 hours before your flight to go through the necessary checks and processes at an unhurried pace. Remember to pack enough face masks for the journey in your hand luggage. Please note that certain airlines are only allowing the use of face masks on board aircraft, and not permitting the wearing of face shields or visors.

FOLLOW THE SIGNAGE

Practise social distancing and good hand hygiene as indicated by the signage and floor markings around the terminal and instructed by the team. Due to distancing guidelines, waiting times at certain points of your journey may be slightly longer.

Those who are still warming up to the idea of taking to the skies again, can still visit the airport for a spot of shopping and dining or to welcome a loved one. While arriving passengers are now exiting the terminal building from an exit dedicated to passengers only, family and friends can wait in the Welcomers’ Hall and follow the status of a particular flight on the information screens. Two hours of free parking are being given to visitors who use Malta International Airport’s parking facilities.
